Nanyue (Nay) Xie
Teacher
Kia ora, whānau at Grace Christian Community Preschool! My name is Nay, and I am honoured to become part of the teaching team here as a qualified kaiako.
I started my Early Childhood teaching journey in Aotearoa in 2018 and have enjoyed this varied role ever since. Supporting people and community is very close to my heart, and it is a true privilege to be part of a child's learning journey and see them grow and flourish.
Building meaningful and reciprocal relationships underpins my teaching philosophy. I believe in the strength of community, and as the saying goes, "it takes a village to raise a child." I place great importance on working closely with members of the community to support not only the community but also for the best learning outcome for our children.
I value social-emotional competence, which research shows to be an important, if not the most important, indicator for children's readiness for school and their happiness and fulfilment later in life. I aim to create an inclusive learning environment where children are encouraged to play alongside and with each other to develop communication and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and so much more.
I enjoy the cultures and lifestyle in New Zealand, where I get to maintain a nice balance between work and life. In my spare time, I would go to shows and exhibitions, explore new spots in the city or nature, or just hang out with friends.
It is an honour to be part of the Grace Christian Community, and I am excited to get to know and work with you and your children.
